Housing Charlotte 2007 Final Report is released

The Housing Charlotte 2007 Final Report is released after more than 10 months of study. The report provides recommendations for affordable housing in five areas: 1) Education, Outreach and Advocacy,, 2) Rental Subsidies, 3) Incentive-Based Inclusionary Housing Policies, 4) Land Acquisition and 5) Dedicated Funding Source. 2nd Mini-Forum to be held on May 21,2008

The Housing Charlotte 2007 Implementation Committee will host its second mini-forum on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 from 6-7:30 pm in room CH-14 of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, 600 E. 4th Street.  The mini-forum will provide an opportunity for the 60-member Implementation Committee to provide updates and share preliminary recommendations for the following solution areas: acquisition strategy, dedicated funding source; education, outreach and advocacy; incentive-based inclusionary housing policies; and rental housing subsidy.  The forum will also allow discussion from the public.  Mini-forums will be held throughout the process to share information between the Implementation Committee and to keep the public informed of this community initiative

Housing Charlotte Mini-Forum provides solution area updates

The Housing Charlotte 2007 Implementation Committee hosted the first in a series of mini-forums on affordable housing.  Held on February 19, 2008, the forum provided an opportunity for the 60-member Implementation Committee to share some of the key issues and research needs surrounding the following solution areas: acquisition strategy; dedicated funding source; education, outreach and advocacy; incentive-based inclusionary housing policies and rental housing subsidy.  Mini-forums will be held throughout the process to share information between the Implementation Committee and to keep the public information of this community initiative.  Click here to review the issues and research needs identified by the solution area subcommittees.

 

MiniFforum to be held on February 19, 2008

The Housing Charlotte 2007 Implementation Committee will host a mini-forum on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 from 6-7:30 pm in room 267 of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, 600 E. 4th Street.The mini-forum will provide an opportunity for the 60-member Implementation Committee to share some of the key issues surrounding the following solution areas: acquisition strategy, dedicated funding source; education, outreach and advocacy; incentive-based inclusionary housing policies; and rental housing subsidy.  The forum will also allow discussion from the public.  Mini-forums will be held throughout the process to share information between the Implementation Committee and to keep the public informed of this community initiative.


Solution areas receive further study

Subcommittees of the Housing Charlotte 2007 Implementation Committee are meeting over the next several months to discuss in greater detail the five solution areas. These include: Acquisition Strategy, Dedicated Funding Source, Education, Outreach and Advocacy, Incentive-based Inclusionary Housing, and Rental Housing Subsidy. The work of the subcommittees includes critical issue identification, research, hosting expert presentations, solutions assessment and final recommendations. Several public forums throughout the process will be scheduled for reporting and public comment.

Housing Charlotte 2007 Implementation Committee holds first meeting

The Housing Charlotte 2007 Implementation Committee held its first meeting on November 12, 2007 at the Wadsworth House.  The Committee will received updates on the Housing Charlotte 2007 initiative and discussed the process and schedule for examining the five priority solution areas.  Subcommittees were formed around the following solution areas: Education/Outreach/Advocacy, Rental Housing Subsidies, Acquisition Strategy, Incentive-Based Inclusionary Housing Policies, and Dedicated Funding Source.  The subcommittees will begin meeting over the next few weeks.  If you have an interest in serving on a subcommittee, please email Steve Allen.

 

Housing Charlotte 2007 receives Circle of Excellence Award

Housing Charlotte 2007 received the 3CMA (City-County Communications and Marketing Association) Circle of Excellence Award in the category of Special Events. More than 780 entries were received in this year’s competition.  Winners were announced at the organization’s annual conference in Kansas City on October 25.
